Just Love – Costa Rican

By , 8 March, 2012, No Comment

Just Love's Costa Rican is what I call an American Roast: Medium Body and clean finish, nothing harsh. Some roasters call it a “breakfast blend.” The taste is puposefully bland but not average. Hints of cinnimon and nutmeg make this anything but a normal medium roast. I could drink a whole pot of Costa Rican and still be ready for more. Overall, a clean drinkablity dominates.

Just Love – Love Potion #3 Espresso

My Grandpa always said, “Joel, don't you judge a book by it's cover, but always must you judge a coffee shop by the espresso.”
Just Love Roasters call their espresso Love Potion #3. It is a proprietary blend of Nicaraguan, Rwandan and Tanzanian beans. Kim, the barrista  with the mosta, has created a smooth but direct espresso blend. The creme is rich and thick. The finish is strong but subtle: tones of citrus balanced with a barley flavor. Unlike most espresso that has a sharp aftertaste, Love Potion goes down like an expensive single malt scotch.  A double shot has better results than two cans of Red Bull. Love Potion #3 is a signature espresso blend for a unique coffee shop: Just Love.

Just Love – Ethiopian Harrar

By , 1 March, 2012, No Comment

Most dark roast coffees like French Roast or Sumatran are roasted just a few degrees before the bean catches on fire. The flavor in the cup comes mostly from the “smoking” process like bacon or smoked ham. The roasted bean retains little uniqueness from the bean itself, the origin

So it is with the Just Love Ethiopian Harrar. I brewed a pot in the familiar Mr. Coffee drip style that many of you have at home. Just Love’s Master Roaster does not make the mistake of over roasting the bean, like most Starbucks “extra bold” roasts. The Harrar still has a bold, clean, citrus finish. A balance is achieved between a sweet and sour like a good teriyaki sauce. If you are afraid of most dark roast, like I am, this Harrar may be the bold roast you’ve been looking for.

Just Love’s Harrar would go well with a dessert like cheese cake or tiramisu. Since bold roasts have less caffeine, this cup o’ joe is may be good for after dinner or for your last cup of the day.
